With Sixty years of experience, BMR delivers unparalleled structural engineering services throughout Atlantic Canada.

For us, innovation, responsiveness and quality are more than corporate aspirations and ideals—they’re values we bring to every single project, from buildings to bridges, from tunnels to treatment plants.

Our insight is also proven through feasibility and cost studies, construction supervision and contract administration, failure investigations, and load tests. And regardless of the task, our experts understand the essential nature of our business: deliver on-time and on-budget. That’s the advantage of working with professionals as efficient as they are innovative.

That’s the strength of experience.

georgeIn 1963, George Brandys, P.Eng, founded the original consulting firm of George Brandys and Associates in Halifax, Nova Scotia. When Roy McBride and John Richardson joined the Board of Directors in 1991, Brandys McBride Richardson Engineering was formed. Fourteen years later, Scott Underhill joined the Board and the company’s name was shortened to BMR Structural Engineering, a name that accurately represents both who we are and what we do.

Through the years, BMR has been involved in such notable projects as Casino Nova Scotia on the Halifax Waterfront, the Sobey Building on the campus of Saint Mary’s University, Purdy’s Wharf Towers (founded on caissons in Halifax Harbour), the Halifax Infirmary, the new Metro Campus for the Nova Scotia Community College located on the Dartmouth Waterfront, the Cobequid Community Health Centre, and the Maritime Helicopter Training Facility at CFB Shearwater. As well, we have provided engineering services for renovations and alterations of many notable buildings in the region, including the reconstruction of the 250 year old St. George’s Church and the replacement of the exterior cladding on the Lord Nelson Hotel and The Bank of Nova Scotia Corporate Offices.

Project by project and year by year; BMR strives to stay ahead of the technological curve – continuing our promise of innovation and quality. Using state-of-the-art computer technology, combined with practical expertise for everything we do, we deliver consistent, industry leading solutions.

But more than this, we listen and react, analyzing each project independently and determining the best course of action for all stakeholders. It’s an approach that’s enabled us to meet and surpass customers’ needs and expectations since our inception.
