Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Headquarters
Architecture49
2026 (Projected)
Completed with our partners at Architecture49, the new Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Headquarters on Hammonds Plains Road is a 26,000 square foot replacement facility for the community of West Bedford. The modernized headquarters will be an extension of an existing structure converted into a new 4-bay fire station designed for up to 25 volunteer staff. The new headquarters includes administrative offices, logistics operations, and dedicated training facilities.
The challenging building design required careful coordination with all stakeholders. The structural design includes structural steel roof, floor, and mezzanine framing, long-span trusses for large, open spaces along with various structural upgrades for the fire station component of the project.
Key Points
- Includes integrated retro-fit of existing building for modern fire station
- Challenging structural steel design and detailing in coordination with all stakeholders
